Although many CMS master’s graduates go on to pursue doctoral studies or media research, a communication and media studies graduate degree offers a solid foundation that can springboard you into a career in media, government, law, or nonprofit work. As a researcher with an abiding interest in games as media and the director of the SOJC’s Esports and Games Research Lab, Maxwell Foxman researches how play manifests in nongame contexts—including social media, politics, and journalistic institutions. His work explores immersive media, game journalism, and the way media makers frame play in their activities and professional lives.
