Careers in Multimedia Journalism and Storytelling

The University of Oregon's master's degree in Multimedia Storytelling prepares journalists and content producers to report, shoot, edit, and publish stories that hold up across video, audio, photography, and immersive media. Based at SOJC Portland in Oregon's largest media market, students train on professional cinema, drone, and podcast gear and learn directly from award-winning documentary makers, editors, and reporters. Graduates leave ready for a field where newsrooms, nonprofits, agencies, and studios all need people who can find a story and tell it well.

Students build a portfolio of real work while they study, covering breaking news, producing documentaries, recording podcasts, and shooting 360-degree and explanatory video. Ninety percent of graduates land a multimedia role after finishing, working across broadcast and digital newsrooms, public media, science and cultural institutions, healthcare communication, and their own production companies.
