Journalism alum Connie Ballmer ’84 has donated $80 million to NPR. In July, Congress withdrew federal funding for the news organization. The donation will, in part, help NPR update its technology.

The SOJC’s Internship Support Fund allowed advertising senior Jose Carrillo to get confidence and experience as an intern for the Pivot Group, a Portland ad agency focused on nonprofit work.

SOJC alumni Eric and Betty Staniak met in class at UO. Now they support students, faculty, facilities and programs in Portland with an endowment focused on journalism and media technology.

Through the donor-funded programs like the Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism and the Catalyst Journalism Project, Professor Nicole Dahmen prepares the next generation of Oregon journalists.

It is with great sadness that the UO marks the passing of Edwin L. Artzt, School of Journalism and Communication alumnus and Hall of Achievement member, and Advertising Hall of Fame inductee.
