A Message From the Dean

What sets the UO School of Journalism and Communication apart from other programs are the experiences and opportunities our students have access to. Whether it’s spending a year investigating the impact of devastating wildfires on a community, speaking to White House staff about the concerns of student veterans, or developing an augmented reality story for an international nonprofit, our students gain valuable work experience while they are here. We have the world-class faculty, cutting-edge equipment, and connections to make that happen. Read on to celebrate all the ways our students and faculty shine!

Please also consider making a year-end contribution to empower us to give all students opportunities to thrive in the evolving landscapes of journalism and communication.

In Memoriam

We are deeply saddened by the passing on May 30 of Mitchell Block, the Jon Anderson Chair and professor of documentary and film studies. A dedicated educator, he was also an Oscar-nominated documentarian and respected member of the film community. We are grateful for the deep knowledge, enthusiasm, and kindness he shared with us.

Onward to 2025!
