Biography

Lanore Hahn is a doctoral candidate in media studies at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication. Her research examines the social, political, and economic implications of large language models and conversational AI in everyday life. Using qualitative and interpretive methods, her work explores how people engage with AI systems for guidance, expertise, and emotional support, and what these interactions reveal about contemporary institutions, knowledge production, and care in the digital age. Her scholarship draws on the political economy of communication and critical media studies to understand how emerging technologies reshape power, communication practices, and access to expertise.
