Biography

Joey “Mac” McMurry is the Director of Broadcasting and Executive Producer of the Oregon Sports Network and an assistant teaching professor in the School of Journalism and Communication.

McMurry oversees all operations of OSN and serves as the voice of Duck men’s basketball and baseball. He also hosts the football pregame show while producing and engineering in the booth, co-hosts the Football Coaches Show, hosts the athletic department’s daily talk show, Duck Insider, and produces various social media and broadcast content to promote multiple aspects of Oregon Athletics.

McMurry began working with OSN as a contributor to Duck Insider in August of 2013. Upon graduation from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication in June of 2014, McMurry became the host of Duck Insider and play-by-play broadcaster for Oregon baseball. On August 23, 2017, McMurry was named the voice of Oregon men’s basketball. He also reported from the sidelines during football games from 2014-2022. 

In September of 2022, McMurry joined the SOJC as an instructor where he now oversees the Duck TV program, teaches play-by-play and and instructs multiple classes in the broadcast sequence.

A native of Santa Cruz, CA, McMurry has worked with the Ducks in some capacity since 2011. He graduated magna cum laude from the School of Journalism and Communication in 2014 after spending three years on campus. While attending UO, he served as the sports director of the student radio station, KWVA, where he called play-by-play for Oregon soccer, lacrosse, volleyball and softball, as well as local high school football and basketball. Additionally, he was the executive producer of the campus television program, Duck TV, overseeing newscasts, sportscasts and creative shows.
