Biography

Beatriz is a Brazilian journalist who recently earned her Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in the United States. For her BA, she was selected to participate in a double degree program in which she studied both in PUCPR, in her hometown of Curitiba, and UVIC, in Spain. She is interested in environmental and science communication, more specifically the gaps between the science and the general public when it comes to communicating about the environment, which made the program at UO an ideal choice for her PhD.

Her passion for nature storytelling stems from her work as a photographer in Brazil, which made her realize the role of communicators as actors of social change, and curious about how well-crafted messaging can lead to practical behavior change. She intends to do her part in fighting climate change through research and teaching, while always bringing Brazil and South America into the environmental conversation.
