Biography

Saeed Dabbour is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication. A global and transnational scholar, his work explores reality television, popular culture, and digital media in the Arab region, informed by television and global media studies, with a focus on identity, representation, and modernity. He is particularly interested in how global media formats are adapted across cultural contexts and how media shapes understandings of the region.

His work also examines representation in video games, including Middle Eastern characters in Overwatch 2, and how digital media can both reinforce and challenge dominant narratives.

Saeed’s research has been recognized across a wide range of academic communities. He has presented at national and international conferences, including the International Communication Association (ICA), National Communication Association (NCA), Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS), Rhetoric Society of America (RSA), and the Western States Communication Association (WSCA). His scholarship also includes a published book review in the International Journal of Communication (IJOC).
