Biography

Amy Boutell has 15+ years of experience in academic affairs and student services, supporting both undergraduate and graduate student success. Since joining the SOJC in 2018, she has received a University of Oregon Graduate Education Excellence Award and a UO Senate Leadership and Service Award.

During her previous role managing the Writing, ESL, and Foreign Language academic support programs at the University of California, Santa Barbara, she was named a National Writing Fellow by the National Writing Project and received an Ally Award from the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity. 

Originally from Eugene, Amy graduated with honors from Columbia University's Barnard College and received an MFA from Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas, where she was a James A. Michener Fellow. Amy's media background includes publicizing books at Thames & Hudson, editing book proposals and manuscripts at New York literary agencies, and producing Hearst Magazines’ Digital Media properties. Her short stories have been published in New Letters, Nimrod, Post Road, and Other Voices, and anthologized in The California Prose Directory.
