LOS ANGELES (January 7, 2025) – The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) is collaborating with the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) to further support Hispanic professionals in the advertising, marketing, and public relations industries. Both organizations will collaborate to share career opportunities, professional development workshops, mentorship opportunities and scholarship programs within their networks.
"Hispanics are the largest ethnic minority group in the United States and in the advertising, marketing, and public relations fields, and it is imperative that these professionals receive the support they need throughout their careers as their success will drive progress and growth within these industries," said TLF Chairman and CEO Kim Hunter. "I look forward to partnering with HPRA to empower these professionals and help set them on a path to success, benefiting not only their careers but these industries as a whole."
Both TLF and HPRA provide their networks access to up-to-date job boards and a range of networking and professional development events across the country. This collaboration will allow both organizations to expand their reach and visibility within a broader network of Hispanic professionals, particularly in key markets such as California, New York, Illinois, Florida, and Texas, where these populations are significant.
"We are thrilled to partner with TLF to expand opportunities for young professionals and diversify the talent pipeline in communications,” said HPRA President Sonia V. Diaz. “By 2050, 78% of net new workers and 29% of the U.S. population will be of Hispanic descent. As communicators, it’s vital that our industry reflects this reality to effectively engage these communities. HPRA and TLF are deeply committed to this effort, and this collaboration strengthens our ability to support and connect with an evolving and dynamic population.”
Major corporations and agencies across the country already partner with both organizations to provide open roles to their networks and collaborate on career development workshops. Through these partnerships, students and professionals at all career stages gain increased access to pathways that can help them advance in their careers.
“TLF and HPRA are invaluable organizations making a meaningful impact on the advertising, marketing, and public relations industries,” said Duke Energy Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Oscar Suris, and board member of TLF and HPRA. “I have no doubt that this partnership will create opportunities for more Hispanic students and young professionals, helping them thrive in their chosen career paths.”
Both organizations offer an annual scholarship program that provides diverse undergraduate and graduate students studying advertising, marketing, or public relations across the country with monetary support, as well as access to professional development and mentorship opportunities with industry professionals.
“Providing Hispanic students with tools for success early on is crucial to ensuring their prolonged success as they step into professional roles,” said Juan-Carlos Molleda, Edwin L. Artzt Dean and professor at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication, and TLF board member. “Both TLF and HPRA have been doing great work in supporting diverse students, and this partnership will ensure that the future of these industries is in good hands.”
Both TLF and HPRA were founded in Los Angeles, home to the largest population of Hispanic citizens and collegiate students in the United States. In 2024, HPRA celebrated its 40th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of its ¡Bravo! Awards, the only industry program to exclusively recognize campaigns, teams and individuals who are leaders in the multicultural public relations, advertising, and marketing space. This year, TLF will celebrate its 27th anniversary and award scholarships through its traditional program, as well as the new Healthcare Marketing and Communications program.
