Biography

Briselda is a bilingual (Spanish) undergraduate career and academic advisor at the School of Journalism and Communication. She has a BA in Journalism from University of Oregon and Ed.M in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University. Briselda is a dedicated social justice practitioner with a demonstrated passion and commitment to work in diversity, equity, inclusion, program management, and group facilitation in higher education and City work. She is Co-Chair of the SOJC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She is also an appointed Co-Chair of the Human Rights Commission for the City of Eugene and Chair (2022) for the Economics Opportunities Working Group to review current policies and practices to ensure these are equitable and support wealth accumulation for marginalized communities in the city of Eugene. Briselda uses her lived experiences as an immigrant, educational training, and theories of servant & transformational leadership styles to guide my work and team, all with sensitivity, diplomacy, and care. She serves responsibly in her roles, always with a strong emphasis on relationship-building across communities. In her free time, Briselda enjoys hiking, cooking different recipes from around the world, and playing with her kids at a local park.
