Section 4: Format for written assignments
Failure to follow format will result in an automatic penalty of
half a letter grade.
- Writing assignments will be neatly typed; a high-contrast computer
print-out is fine, too (no faint copies, please). Handwritten
assignments will not be accepted, although a few legible handwritten
copy corrections are allowed.
- Staple the pages (no paper clips).
- Double space, standard margins.
- Safety copies: For each assignment, keep an extra "safety" copy
at home or on disc.
- The first thing to appear on the assignment, on the left side
of the page:
"Slug" (the paper's I.D., project name, or abbreviated title)
your name
J203, GTF's name & lab time
date
- Begin halfway down the first page, leaving room for editing remarks
in the top half.
- Begin subsequent pages one inch from the top.
- Keep an "alibi" (extra) copy of each assignment; if the paper
somehow disappears after it's turned in and you can't produce
a copy, the grade is zero.
