The Student Success Center is a one-stop, integrated career and academic advising office for current and prospective undergraduate School of Journalism and Communication students.

Drop-In Advising:
Drop-in conversation are usually 10-15 minutes. Drop-in conversations are great for:
- Registration advising
- Understanding requirements/degree guide
- Senior (one-year) grad plans
- Checking out majors/minors
- Explore study abroad, experiential learning, getting involved, etc.
- Discussing internship credits
- And any other question you can think of!
We open the drop-in list about 15 minutes before the start of each time block. We normally allow students to log in up to 15 minutes before the end of the time block. However, if the line is too long, we will close the list before the posted timeframe.

All drop-in hours are first-come, first-served. Both remote (phone or video chat) and in-person options are available. During the times above, use the button below to initiate a live chat with our front desk staff through Microsoft Teams.

Advising Appointments (remote or in person):

Note: All members of the student services team, with the exception of Senior Director Sally Garner, are Assisting Employees: We will direct students who are not minors and who report prohibited discrimination, including sexual harassment and violence to us to resources to help them and will report to the Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance only when requested by the student (unless someone is in imminent risk of serious harm).
We do, however, have a duty to report child abuse and neglect to the Oregon Department of Human Services or law enforcement when there is reasonable cause to believe that child abuse or neglect has occurred. A child is any person under the age of 18.
Senior Director Sally Garner is a Designated Reporter. She is required to report all incidents of prohibited discrimination and harassment including sexual harassment and violence that she learns about to the Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance. She will also direct students to resources to help them.
Additionally, Senior Director Sally Garner and Associate Director Rachel Allen are Campus Security Authorities (CSA). Under the Campus Clery Act, they are obligated to record any crimes disclosed to them.
