Remember: there is no one single perfect schedule!

Creating your schedule is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together—all the pieces have to fit by the time you’re done, but there’s no exact order in which the pieces must be placed. It’s easiest to put a jigsaw puzzle together if you put the outer edge or frame together first, and fit the other pieces inside of it. Similarly, it’s easiest to put your schedule together if you frame it with your general-education and premajor requirements. When choosing courses, watch for prerequisites. Remember to plan backup courses in case your first-choice courses are closed when you try to register.

Course availability
Some courses are offered every term but many appear just a few times a year, once a year or even once every two years. Each department creates its own schedule a few months before a term begins. Associate Dean Julianne Newton is responsible for the undergraduate journalism schedule. Consult her to find out what journalism courses will be offered in future terms. Remember, the school’s policy is to make available to you all the restricted major courses you need to graduate within two academic years after you complete the Gateway to Media series (if you started as a "pre-journalism" major Fall 2009 or later) or after you become a full major (if you started as a "pre-journalism" major before Fall 2009). Please plan accordingly.
