Out of the minimum 180 credits required for a bachelor's degree, all journalism students must complete at least 116 credits outside of journalism (i.e. non-journalism). Any subject code other than "J" counts toward this requirement. Use your Degree Audit Report on DuckWeb to keep track of how many non-journalism credits you've earned.
Out of the 116 non-journalism credits, at least 94 must be credits from subject codes within the College of Arts and Sciences.
Non-journalism courses taken to fulfill the university's general education requirement count toward the 116 total, as do any non-journalism electives. Courses taken to fulfill a non-journalism second major or minor will also count toward this requirement.
Special note for transfer students: If you earn an excessive number of journalism credits at your previous school(s), you may be at a disadvantage in meeting this requirement. Be careful.
Special note for post-baccalaureate/second bachelor's degree students: Most post-baccalaureate/second bachelor's degree students fulfill this requirement with courses taken for their first degree. Discuss this with your journalism academic adviser.
