Award-winning investigative reporter and New York Times best-selling author Robert Kolker will offer a free public presentation titled “Lost Girls: Unsolved Murder and Internet Prostitution” Tuesday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. in 221 Allen Hall.
Kolker will touch on the details of the true-life search for a serial killer still at large on Long Island, the process of writing his book “Lost Girls: an Unsolved American Mystery” and the broader issues of prostitution, the impact of the Internet on commercial sex work and the way much of society turns a blind eye to those most vulnerable.
“Lost Girls” was named one of Publishers Weekly’s Top Ten Books of the Year, and Kolker received the Harry Frank Guggenheim Excellence in Criminal Justice Reporting Award from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Kolker, who is contributing editor at New York Magazine, has also been nominated for a National Magazine Award.
