Gabriel Dance, art director for news for Rupert Murdoch’s forthcoming iPad-only newspaper, The Daily, and former chief multimedia producer at The New York Times, will speak this Friday, February 4 at 4:00 p.m. in the Ben Linder Room, EMU. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Daily, which is expected to launch February 2, expected to be available only on iPads and to cost 99 cents a week. A recent article in the L.A. Times said “It has a news staff stationed across the U.S. and is expected to be much like a national newspaper, with coverage of general news, culture and entertainment.”

Dance will be visiting the School of Journalism and Communication as the Frazier Journalist in Residence. While on campus, he will lead a multimedia storytelling workshop with students in the SOJC. The Frazier Journalist-in-Residence program honors the memory of Robert B. Frazier, former editorial page editor for The Register-Guard; he was described as the “complete newspaperman,” excelling as a reporter, feature writer, editor and columnist. The Frazier Endowment Fund was established by his family in 1992.
