Ricardo hails from El Salvador and previously worked as the head of the Communication and Public Relations department of the El Salvador Embassy in Washington, DC. Prior to his work with the embassy, he worked as a columnist, investigative reporter, senior editor, and correspondent for various newspapers and agencies in El Salvador. His MA thesis was a quantitative content analysis on bias, source, tone and frame in El Salvadorian extremist newspapers. In the PhD program, he aims to concentrate his research on the intersection of critical studies, strategic communication, journalism, and international studies to examine the messages sent by Washington stakeholders to governments of Central America, their message and media strategies and the impact of these communications.
