In Kelli Matthews’ professional life, she’s a communicator, business leader, and community volunteer. In her academic life, she’s a teacher, cheerleader, mentor, and adviser. In all of it, she is doing PR.
Matthews has more than a dozen years of public relations experience as the founder and managing director of Verve Northwest Communications. She has been directly responsible for high-level communication, strategic planning, budget management, and leadership for a wide variety of clients. She’s particularly interested in and has an aptitude for digital strategy and helping organizations large and small to navigate their options for maximum results. She’s also a regularly invited speaker and trainer at events, workshops, and seminars on topics ranging from social media basics to media training and community engagement.
For the past decade, Matthews has worked with undergraduate and graduate students at the School of Journalism and Communication. This has required her to stay on the cutting edge of research and practice in public relations. She currently serves as the area director of the public relations sequence in the SOJC.
