Mike Fancher, Retired Executive Editor, Seattle Times
Mike Fancher retired from the Seattle Times in 2008, after 20 years as executive editor and almost 40 years as a professional journalist. Since retirement he has been involved in several roles in journalism education. He was a 2008–09 Donald W. Reynolds Fellow in the Missouri School of Journalism and Reynolds Chair in Ethics at the University of Nevada in 2011–12. He was interim director of the University of Oregon’s Agora Journalism Center and George S. Turnbull Center during 2015–16. Fancher is an emeritus member of the Journalism That Matters board of directors and serves on the board of the Washington Coalition for Open Government.
