Scholarship Description: 

The Lyle M. Nelson Scholarship was established by Corinne Nelson in honor of her late husband, who served in public relations and academic positions during his 40-year career. He is remembered as a stellar teacher, mentor and founder of the John S. Knight Professional Journalism Fellowship Program at Stanford University. Lyle Nelson was recognized as a member of the School's Hall of Achievement in 1999.

Qualifications: 
The Nelson Scholarship goes to a student in the SOJC who has demonstrated through his or her work at the Oregon Daily Emerald outstanding potential in the field of journalism.
