About the Journalist-in-Residence Workshop

Jonathan Stray, former Associated Press interactive editor and Adobe engineer, led a group of University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication students on a data reporting exploration on May 5, 2012 as part of the Frazier Journalist-in-Residence program at the j-school.

Stray is working with the Associated Press on a Knight News Challenge–funded project to develop a tool for journalists to manage large document sets, and he shared some fundamental approaches to storytelling with data during the workshop.

He also visited the Oregon Daily Emerald and consulted with an enthusiastic group of students and staff about their data projects and the publication’s upcoming redesign.
