Rachel LaChapelle, a senior studying journalism and political science, is managing editor of Ethos magazine. Her focus as a writer is on narrative nonfiction about science and culture. She has worked as a feature writer for student publications Ethos, Flux, and Envision and as a freelance contributor to Mental Floss covering topics ranging from the colonization of Mars to the scientifically proven superpowers of babies to edible insects. When she isn’t writing, researching, or eating crickets for a story, she enjoys reading, cooking, practicing yoga, and traveling. LaChapelle has taken Gateway, Reporting 1 and 2, Flux, and Storytelling for Social Change through the UO School of Journalism and Communication.
