Ben McBee majored in journalism and double-minored in Spanish and religious studies. Last summer, he traveled to the remote fishing town of Cordova, Alaska, to tell stories of climate change through visual journalism for the UO School of Journalism and Communication’s Science and Memory program. He has been able to pursue his passion for wildlife and conservation reporting through his experiences filming salmon and migrating shorebirds in the field and photographing captive animals for his blog. He just finished a story about the conflict between gray wolves and ranchers for the SOJC’s student-run iPad publication OR Magazine. He loves nature, birds, college football, and the Portland Trail Blazers and aspires to work for a magazine that pushes him outdoors.
