All the essential resources needed by the next generation of leaders in journalism and communication will be available here 24/7. The open, flexible space can easily be reconfigured for both formal and informal learning and will create space for collaboration. The commons also will provide design studio and gallery space along with individual student work spaces. As the walls between media platforms have fallen, so too must the walls of our creative spaces. The Digital Commons is the cornerstone of the Allen Hall transformation.

Newly renovated wings

Allen Hall's existing wings (circa 1922 and 1954) will be renovated to integrate seamlessly with the new addition.

First-floor atrium

The soaring, transparent three-story main entrance will unite the building's original wings with the new addition and reflect Allen Hall's standing as home to one of the UO's most prestigious professional schools.

Second-floor gallery

This public space will give students opportunities to showcase their photography, design, and writing work.
